The Heart Behind the Fox
Storytelling found me.
I grew up on a small family farm in Northern BC, where the land, the seasons and the quiet rhythm of nature taught lessons you don’t always understand at the time, about resilience, courage and finding your way.
Years later, after a career spent in leadership and earning a Master’s Degree from Royal Roads University, I felt called to write. Rusty the Prairie Fox was born from those moments.
Through Rusty’s journey, I explore friendship, courage, responsibility and the quiet strength that lives in all of us, especially in the smallest voices.
My stories are shaped by my Métis and Irish heritage, and a deep connection to the land and storytelling traditions that continue to guide my work.
When I’m not writing, you’ll find me with my grandchildren or outdoors, running, hiking, fishing or on the water—always listening, observing and gathering stories.
I believe the stories we tell children matter. The right story, at the right time, can stay with them for a lifetime.
